Nine women were honored at "The Gems of Fort Lauderdale" reception, sponsored by Levinson Jewelers and Great Florida Bank. These dedicated humanitarians were recognized for their devotion to local charities and were honored by the sponsors, which made a donation to each woman's favorite charity. "This is one of the best events we do," says Robin Levinson, who owns Levinson Jewelers with her husband, Mark. "These women are intelligent, nice and so generous with their time and efforts. lt's enlightening to see how they can wear a lot of hats." Over l50 guests attended "The Gems of Fort Lauderdale" and enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeurves, music and a presentation ceremony. The sponsors donated $l,000 to the honorees' chari- ties of choice. The honorees’ and their charities are: • Dany Garcia, The Beacon Experience. • Rhonda Johnson, The Young at Art Children's Museum. • Patty Kearns, Jack & Jill Children's Center. • Saskia Madison, Women of Tomorrow. • Kim A. Rothstein, Here’s Help Inc. • Eliza Egan Smith, Forum on Women's Health. • Katina Taylor, The Jason Taylor Foundation. • Ali Waldman, The Bergeron Everglades Museum & Wildlife Foundation. • Denise Zimmerman, Women in Distress. "This year was awesome," says Levinson, who plans to hold the event again next year. "The girls were fabulous. They have kids, families, careers, charity work, and they do it all so good."
