Buddha Mama Jewelry

Handmade Jewelry | Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Buddha Mama is a handmade jewelry line inspired by Buddhism and Eastern
traditions. The collection is rooted in the philosophy of contribution and all started
at the kitchen table. Looking for a way to raise funds for her local Buddhist
center, Zen Village, Nancy Badia began stringing beads and selling bracelets in
order to contribute her profits from their sale.

After spending 25 years working side by side with her husband, building their
family business, Nancy decided it was time to embrace life in a more creative way
while continuing to honor her spirituality. Thus, Buddha Mama was born. Nancy
and team began traveling the world in search of stones, carvings and artisans
who could become creative partners and allow her to bring her renderings to life.

Several years and collections later, Buddha Mama has evolved into a fully
expressed and unique jewelry line that is carried by boutique, traditional and
independent stores across the country, with pieces in each collection that speak
to every woman. With one of her daughters by her side, jewelry designer, Dakota
Badia, the designs continue to expand and seem endless. Close friends and
family help run the company in a way that seems more like a family gathering
than anything else.

“To be able to do what we love and give back in the process is the biggest
blessing anyone could ask for.”
—NANCY BADIA

Levinson Jewelers Recycled with Young At Art Museum

November Events at Levinson Jewelers

Levinson Jewelers - YAA Recycled Jewelry (2)

In November, Levinson Jewelers sponsored an amazing event held at the Young At Art Museum in Davie, Florida. For the ninth year in a row, teens with a knack for fashion design where challenged to create spectacular wearable art in 2014’s Annual Recycled Fashion Show. This event challenged participants to incorporate recycled materials into their outfits.  Each young designer were given a “challenge material” representing an environmental issue during their selected decade including: bottle caps, wire mesh, scrap fabric, egg cartons, newspaper, canvas, recycled plastics and paint. This year’s event boasted participants from the Museum’s teen leadership program. Participants were asked to design outfits that represented the past in a way that reviled today’s environmental struggle. Participants used a variety of materials in addition on their challenge materials sich as paint and silk screen to depict their ideas about how resource dependency and natural disasters impact us today.
